What Is BPM?
BPM (beats per minute) measures the tempo or speed of music. A song at 120 BPM has 120 quarter-note beats per minute — two per second. BPM is essential for DJs (matching tempos for seamless transitions), producers (setting delay and reverb times), runners (matching music to cadence), and musicians (practicing with a metronome).
To find a song's BPM by tapping: tap the spacebar or button along with the beat for 8-16 beats. The calculator averages the intervals between your taps. More taps = more accurate result. For songs with swing or shuffle feel, tap on the main beat (usually the kick drum or bass note), not the subdivisions.
