The grading value ladder
A PSA 10 typically sells for 5–10× more than raw. PSA 9 is 2–3× raw. PSA 8 is 1.5–2×. Below PSA 7, grading typically destroys value — ungraded sells better. For high-value cards ($200+ raw), the PSA 10 premium is extraordinary.
Is it worth grading?
Do the math: if a card is worth $50 raw and you expect PSA 9 (3× = $150), profit after $25 submission is $75. But wait times can be 6–12 months, and grade predictions are uncertain. Only grade cards where the upside significantly exceeds grading cost and risk.

Frequently asked questions
How much does PSA grading cost?▾
Standard PSA grading is $25/card (6-month turnaround). Fast turnaround costs $75–150/card. Walk-through services run $500+/card. Economy tiers at $12/card have 12+ month waits.
Is grading cards worth the cost?▾
Grading costs $20-150+ per card depending on service level and speed. It is only worth grading cards valued at $50+ in raw condition. A PSA 10 grade can multiply a card value by 3-10x, but most submitted cards receive 7-9 grades. Only grade cards in near-mint or better condition — lower grades rarely add enough value to justify the cost.
