Reglas de Exponentes

Multiplicación: aⁿ × aᵐ = aⁿ⁺ᵐ. División: aⁿ ÷ aᵐ = aⁿ⁻ᵐ. Potencia de potencia: (aⁿ)ᵐ = aⁿˣᵐ. Exponente 0: a⁰ = 1 (siempre). Exponente negativo: a⁻ⁿ = 1/aⁿ. Ejemplos: 2³ = 8. 10⁴ = 10,000. 5⁰ = 1. 2⁻³ = 1/8 = 0.125.

Aplicaciones

Interés compuesto: A = P(1+r)ⁿ. Crecimiento poblacional: P = P₀ × eʳᵗ. Informática: 2¹⁰ = 1,024 (1 KB). 2²⁰ = 1,048,576 (1 MB). 2³⁰ ≈ 1 mil millones (1 GB). Los exponentes son la razón por la que el interés compuesto es tan poderoso: $10,000 al 7% por 30 años = $10,000 × 1.07³⁰ = $76,123.

⚡ CalcWolf Insight

The most practical exponent in everyday life: the Rule of 72. Divide 72 by the interest rate to estimate how many years it takes to double your money. At 8% return: 72÷8 = 9 years to double. This is compound interest (exponents) made simple enough for mental math.

Frequently asked questions
¿Qué es un exponente?
Cuántas veces se multiplica un número por sí mismo. 2³ = 2×2×2 = 8. 5⁴ = 5×5×5×5 = 625. El exponente (superíndice) indica las repeticiones.
¿Por qué cualquier número a la 0 es 1?
Por la regla de división: aⁿ÷aⁿ = aⁿ⁻ⁿ = a⁰. Pero aⁿ÷aⁿ también = 1 (cualquier número dividido por sí mismo). Por lo tanto a⁰ = 1.
