Le Calcul

Tonnes = surface (m²) × épaisseur (m) × densité. Gravier : densité 1,5 t/m³. Pierre concassée : 1,6. Galets : 1,4. 20 m² à 5 cm de gravier : 20 × 0,05 × 1,5 = 1,5 tonnes. Ajoutez 10% de tassement. Le vrac est 40-60% moins cher que les sacs.

Types

Gravier concassé : allées (bon compactage). Galets roulés : décoration (aspect naturel). Pouzzolane : paillage permanent, drainage excellent. Pierre de lave : légère, isolante.

⚡ CalcWolf Insight

Landscape fabric under rock seems like a good idea, but most professionals skip it. It degrades within 3-5 years, prevents organic matter from enriching the soil, and becomes an ugly mess when exposed. Use 4 inches of rock directly on graded soil — weeds that do grow pull out easily from loose rock.
