How Many Blocks for a Retaining Wall?

Dimensionamento

Blocos por fileira = comprimento ÷ largura do bloco. Fileiras = altura ÷ altura do bloco. Muro de 6 m × 90 cm com blocos de 40×20 cm: 15 blocos/fileira × 4,5 = 68 + 10% = 75 blocos. Acima de 1 metro: OBRIGATÓRIO projeto de engenheiro. No Brasil, muros de arrimo são comuns em terrenos em declive — frequentes no Rio, Minas e Serra Gaúcha.

Drenagem É Obrigatória

Sem drenagem = desabamento garantido. Cada muro precisa: tubo de drenagem na base, 30 cm de brita atrás do muro, e barbacãs a cada 2-3 m. A água é a causa #1 de ruptura de muros de arrimo. No Brasil, com as chuvas intensas de verão, a drenagem é ainda mais crítica.

Interlocking retaining wall blocks have a built-in setback (lip) that angles each course slightly toward the slope. This "batter" (typically 1 inch per course) counteracts the soil pressure pushing outward. Never stack blocks vertically without setback — the wall will eventually topple forward.
