Wedding Catering Guidelines
The standard catering formula: 6-8 appetizer pieces per guest during cocktail hour. One entree per guest for plated dinner. For buffet, plan 1.5x the amount of food (guests take larger portions when self-serving). For cocktail-style receptions, plan 12-15 appetizer pieces per guest over 2-3 hours. Always plan for 5% more than your headcount to account for server tastings, vendor meals, and unexpected guests.
