Area

The amount of space inside a two-dimensional shape, measured in square units.

Area formulas: Rectangle = length × width. Triangle = ½ × base × height. Circle = π × r². Trapezoid = ½ × (base1 + base2) × height. For irregular shapes, divide into rectangles and triangles, calculate each, and sum. In real estate, square footage (area) is the primary measure of home size. In construction, area determines material quantities — paint, flooring, roofing, and siding are all purchased based on area coverage.
