Body Fat Percentage
The proportion of total body weight that is fat tissue, measured as a percentage.
Healthy ranges: men 14-24%, women 21-31%. Athletic: men 6-13%, women 14-20%. The US Navy method estimates body fat from neck, waist, and hip measurements. More accurate methods include DEXA scans and hydrostatic weighing. Body fat percentage is a better indicator of health and fitness than BMI because it distinguishes between muscle and fat mass.
